چکیده

There are a number of societal motivations for the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs): reduced emissions, a more diverse mix of fuel types and sources, reducing the dependence on unstable regions with the greatest oil reserves, reducing petro-dollar funding of activities increased economic security fr a more assured continuity of supplies plus more balanced trade, and fuel price stability (Sperling, 1989; Srivastava, 20 Until recently, these national motivations and societal bene have not led to significant adoption of any type of alternative fuel vehicle in the U The characteristics of electric David P. Tuttle is a Research Fellow and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. His current research interests are PEVs, PEV interactions, and synergies with the electric grid, and renewable energy. He is one of the researchers in Austin’s Pecan Street Consortium/University of Texas Plug-In Vehicle and Smartgrid research project (the subject of an article elsewhere in this issue). He received his B.S. and Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering with Highest Honors from the University of Louisville, Speed Scientific School in 1981 and 1982 and an M.B.A. with the Dean’s Award from the University of Texas at Austin in 1991. He was responsible for designing microprocessors and leading highperformance microprocessor and systems development teams at IBM (1982–2000), then later formed a design team for Sun Microsystems in Austin focused on power-efficient multicore/multi-thread microprocessor development.

Significant Characteristics of Multi Carrier Energy Networks for Integration of Plug-In Electric Vehicles to Electric Distribution Network

One of the big concerns of big cities is facing with the increase of fossil fuel vehicles in the roads. The cars intensify greenhouse gas emission in civic centers. One approach to reduce the emission is replacing the cars by Plug-In Electric Vehicles (PEVs). In spite of reducing the emission, PEVs have some adverse effect on electric distribution networks. Technical challenges such as load and...

Intelligent Power Control of Green Building-Integrated of Fuel Cell and Plug-in Electric Vehicle in Smart Distribution Systems

The renewable energy sources and plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) are becoming very popular because of the combination of high fuel costs and concerns about emission issues. This paper presents modelling and control of a Building Integrated Fuel Cell and Plug-in Electric Vehicles (BIFC-PEV) in smart distribution systems. In BIFC-PEV system, conventional building elements could be replaced by sp...

A Novel Charging Plan for PEVs Aggregator Based on Combined Market and Network Driven Approach

With the large-scale production of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs), a new entity, the PEV fleet aggregator manages charging and discharging processes of the vehicles. The main objective of an individual aggregator in interaction with electricity markets is maximizing its profit. In this paper, the performance of this aggregator in day-ahead and real-time electricity markets, considering (a) cu...

Optimal Intelligent Control of Plug-in Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles in Smart Electric Grids

In this paper, Plug-in Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (PFCEV) is considered with dual power sources including Fuel Cell (FC) and battery Energy Storage. In order to respond to a transient power demand, usually supercapacitor energy storage device is combined with fuel cell to create a hybrid system with high energy density of fuel cell and the high power density of battery. In order to simulate the...
